Since 2018, co-founders Ryan Schmidt and Gopal Sadagopal have steered the company from small-scale acquisitions to a focused portfolio of student housing communities worth over $165 million, managing 4,600+ beds across the U.S.

With a combined 50+ years in real estate, their journey started long before Rise Select was named — in single-family rentals, small multifamily units, and a shared drive to build something lasting. Today, Rise Select operates with a clear mission: to unlock value in underperforming student housing assets while staying true to its foundational values — honesty, kindness, depth, and joy in the process.

Ryan began investing in single-family homes

Gopal transitioned from tech to real estate
